The Crafton-Preyer Theatre
The Crafton-Peyer Theatre is the main performance venue for the University Theatre. The theatre is named for Jesse Allen Crafton (1890-1966), founder of the Department of Speech and Drama, and for Carl Adolph Preyer (1863-1947), pianist/composer and faculty member for 56 years.
The Crafton-Preyer features reserved seating for 1130 patrons.
Food is not allowed in the Crafton-Preyer. Bottled or lidded drinks are allowed. KU Dining sells wine, beer, and non-alcoholic beverages before curtain and during intermission of Crafton-Preyer performances.
Latecomers will be seated at the discretion of the House Manager. In most cases, latecomers will be seated in the balcony and allowed to take their assigned seats at intermission.
The Crafton-Preyer Theatre is available for rental by campus and outside organizations during limited windows of time each season. For more information visit Facility Use and Technical Specifications.
