Much Ado About Nothing
by William Shakespeare

The Crafton-Preyer Theatre

Set in a courtly world of Messina's masked revels and dances, Much Ado About Nothing turns on the archetypal story of Hero, a woman falsely accused of unfaithfulness on the eve of her marriage to the noble Claudio because of the schemes and deceits of the villainous Don John. However, brilliant humor and witty wordplay steal the show through the banter of Beatrice and Benedick—a warring couple who are ultimately tricked into admitting their mutual attraction. All masks and gloves come off in the joyous finale of Shakespeare's most comical “battle of the sexes.” New KU Theatre faculty member Peter Zazzali adapts this classic tale to modern day to explore the nature of truth and human failings. In the quest for love there are no lies or lengths we will not go.
